JMBC Refuge Meeting Reports

YCM Report

For Oct 29, 2009

1 - I asked if anyone had anything they would like to discuss regarding concerns and complaints; sentiments were positive.

2 - I informed everyone of what my November calendar looks like; as I told Mark before I was hired, November is my roughest month of the year. I have two conferences to go to as well as the usual Thanksgiving holidays. These are the days I will not be available:
- I'm preaching at Temple Baptist of Hampton this Sunday, the 8th
- Nov. 11th through the morning of the 14th (I will be coming back from North Carolina straight to the Hayride)
- Nov. 18th through the 21st (New Orleans for a conference)
- Thanksgiving holidays (wont be here Sunday, Nov. 29th)

What this amounts to, as far as time away from the regularly scheduled meetings with the kids:
- I will be here during the fellowship hour Sunday morning, but I will have to leave before teaching class; Miss Kathy is willing to teach that class
- I will not be able to teach on Wed. the 11th, Wed. the 18th, or Sunday the 29th.

3 - We discussed Kings Dominion plans

4 - We discussed plans for the Hayride:
     - A signup sheet has been placed on the Youth Bulletin Board
     - The cost is set for $5
     - We will all meet at the church at 2:30
     - We plan to leave in the vans and bus at 3:00
     - We should arrive at Zuni by 3:45
     - The swing, go-carts, and zip-line will be used until sundown
     - We will eat at sundown
     - We will have a bonfire and I will deliver a message after we eat
     - There will be a hayride or two after that
     - We will leave for the church at 8:00
     - We will be back at 8:45

     - Verlie, Wayne, and the Robbinetts will be in charge of setting up
     - Eileen will be in charge of appropriating foods
     - Kim Skeeter will be signing people in and overseeing everything until I arrive from NC (around 5pm)

5 - I updated everyone on the Discipleship program, how the students are doing, and what it looks like will happen with the ski trip:
     - Some students have recently begun to take the discipleship program more seriously; the rest have been going solid from the beginning.
     - We're leaving on Friday the 29th of January* (this detail might have changed between the meeting and today); we'll be going on a ski trip, and we will return on Monday February 1st.

6 - I discussed that we will be taking Youth to the Youth Evangelism Conference on the weekend of January 15th and 16th. The conference will be in Virginia Beach, and we'll be leaving from church each morning and coming back each evening. The cost for the event is $25, but it has yet to be determined whether/how much the church can subsidize.

7 - Finally, we discussed the apologetics conference that will be happening here at Jackson on March 13th 2010. It will be an all day event that will require much help, and we were brainstorming ways to have the youth involved. Please continue to brainstorm as we plan this major event.

That's about all of it! Please let me know if there's anything else I can help with. In Christ,
-Nabeel Qureshi
